My Favorite Glowing Green Smoothie

I make this anytime I feel like I’ve overindulged or I just want to overload my system with pure goodness. There are a couple variations of this that I do on a regular basis depending on whatever is fresh in my fridge.

  • 2 cups of freshly washed Kale, Spinach, or Swiss Chard combo (think the super greens mix at your grocer)
  • 2 stalks of celery, including leaves, washed and chopped
  • 1 apple (I like honeycrisp or jazz apples)
  • 1/2 chopped cucumber with skin
  • 1 lemon squeezed, minus seeds. ( I prefer meyer lemons because they’re less tart and tend to only have these in my fridge)
  • 1/2- 1 inch knob of ginger, peeled and chopped (feel free to omit if you don’t like the spiciness of ginger, but I think it’s the main cleanser so try to get used to it.)
  • pinch of cilantro (if that’s not your thing, use parsley. It’s cool either way)
  • 1/2 avocado for creamy smoothness (you can’t taste it, but this uplevels this incredibly!) Feel free to omit if needed.
  • small handful of pineapple for some added sweetness. Again choose only if you think it needs it. Some days I do it and some days I leave it out.
  • Pour at least 8oz of coconut water or regular cold water.

I tried to make this as flexible a recipe as possible so that it becomes your own. Feel free to add a banana if that suits you or mango for sweetness. I have tried this in so many variations and loved each one. It regulates your hormones because the amount of magnesium in the spinach/kale/swiss chard combo along with cleansing your cells and boosting your immune system with lemon and ginger. The monosaturated fat in the avocado leaves you feeling full and satisfied. Use this as a meal replacement on those days after you had one too many rosés, tequila and soda, or that ice cream in your freezer! 😉
